Press Release

The handover of the Afghan Embassy in Bonn is a cause of great concern to communities in Europe. The Bonn Embassy is an important mission for Germany and for all European countries. As of November 2025, the new Taliban representatives announced their access to all data and certificates issued by the Embassy. This causes great concern and anxiety among asylum seekers and refugees in Europe. We are aware that many communities, organizations, and activists intervened with an official petition to not hand over the Embassy to Taliban representatives. Unfortunately, the efforts were unsuccessful.

We, Generation Outside Afghanistan, in collaboration with Afghans Empowered and Europäisches Jugend-Und Sozialwerk gGmbH, have dealt extensively with refugees and asylum seekers and recognize their rights as well as the risks and consequences they may suffer.

We, along with many communities in Europe, request organizations specializing in the rights of refugees and asylum seekers to begin cooperation aiming at avoiding the production of victims. Afghanistan, a complex war-torn country, consists of various religions, languages, and ethnicities with different external characteristics.

Embassy staff has been welcomed by immigrants who visit and request documents they consider helpful, while there is the other category consisting of refugees and asylum seekers who refuse any communication with them for any reason whatsoever. The rights of refugees are provided for by the 1951 Geneva Convention, and we, the organizations and communities specialized in this field, will ensure they do not become victims.

In the event that anyone receives threats or finds themselves in danger, either by the Embassy or by Embassy supporters, please contact us for assistance to avoid creating further insecurity among citizens.

This email has been forwarded to collaborating communities. Please contact us if any communities or organizations would like further information. Citizens or communities not been made aware, are kindly asked to contact us.
