Last week, on 11th September, 2025, Pakistani authorities sent an official written announcement banning the operation of all Dari-language schools. 19 schools have closed in Hazara Town alone. The reason for closing down the schools is due to the decision to deport 1.4 million Afghan refugees and asylum seekers from the country.
Up until now, we, Generation Outside Afghanistan, in collaboration with Euroäisches Jungend und Sozialwerk gGmbH and Afghans Empowered, have been financially supporting such a school since the beginning of 2025. This school operated with classes and a well-rounded curriculum attended by many children, women, and men.

We were informed of these developments by the school Principal and will be discussing future actions. This school did not only function as an education centre but as a space providing relief and support from daily problems, as well as a place of hope for the future. Many of these children live under unsuitable conditions. The physical location of the school helped students feel good about themselves and optimistic about their progress. These developments are causing us great sadness as we are against refugees and asylum seekers growing up in far-away countries without education.
We will be here to fight for their fundamental rights to education, health, housing, and their right to freedom of movement.
